Forte Selected to Deliver Maintenance and Enhancements for BC Government’s Geographic Data Warehouse Distribution Service

October 25, 2011 - Following a public RFP process, the British Columbia Ministry of Labour, Citizens’ Services and Open Government has awarded Forte Consulting Ltd. a contract to perform maintenance and develop enhancements to its Data Warehouse Distribution Service (DWDS).

The DWDS is the self-service corporate tool allowing clients (i.e. public, industry and government) to order and download BC Government spatial and attribute data from the BC Geographic Warehouse. The technical architecture of the DWDS is based on Java, Oracle, SDE, FME, WebADE / SSL Siteminder.

Forte Consulting Retained to Maintain the ILRR

July 15, 2011 - Following a public RFP process, the British Columbia Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations has awarded Forte Consulting Ltd. the contract to maintain the Integrated Land and Resource Registry (ILRR) application.  Forte Consulting was a key member of the multi-company consortium that originally designed and implemented the ILRR, and Forte has been responsible for maintenance of the system since 2008.

The ILRR (www.ilrr.ca) provides a single source for querying land and resource related rights and interests on crown land in British Columbia. The ILRR system integrates data encompassing over 300 different land interest types housed within 20 operational government systems that are being managed by several different Interest Granting Agencies across the province. The technical architecture of the ILRR is comprised of a sophisticated suite of tools including J2EE, Oracle 10g, Esri ArcSDE, Esri ArcIMS, Safe Software’s FME, GML and the Internet Mapping Framework.

Forte Completes GIS Strategic Review for City of Nanaimo

Forte Consulting was selected by the City of Nanaimo, British Columbia, to conduct a strategic review of their GIS systems. The scope of this assignment included gathering current and future departmental GIS requirements, identifying and evaluating solution architecture alternatives that would meet the needs of the City, and developing a three year GIS Implementation Plan based on the recommended solution.

MACA ATLAS System Migrated to ArcGIS Server

Forte recently completed the migration of the Administration of the Territorial Land Acts System (ATLAS) from ArcIMS to ArcGIS Server for Municipal and Community Affairs (MACA), Government of the Northwest Territories.

ATLAS provides access to parcel mapping and related property information for communities across the Northwest Territories. The system supports MACA's vision of providing more autonomy and authority to Community Governing Authorities over the management of land within their boundaries.

2010 Legacies Now BC Activity Reporter Live

Forte recently completed development of the online BC Activity Reporter (BCAR) for 2010 Legacies Now (www.2010LegaciesNow.com) and the Province of British Columbia. This application allows a broad range of stakeholder agencies to report on participation in sport and recreation programs across British Columbia using an intuitive Web-enabled reporting and map interface. Once registered with BCAR, members upload their participation data and are able to create custom sport and recreation reports by neighbourhood, municipality or province-wide.

The BCAR application was developed using MapGuide 2010, Safe Software's FME, Google Maps, Jasper Reports and MySQL.

District of Mission GIS Data Migration Completed

Forte has completed the migration of the District of Mission's spatial data assets from Microstation files to an ESRI Geodatabase in ArcSDE.

This assignment included developing a new logical and physical GIS data model for the District that aligned with their requirements for ongoing data maintenance using ArcGIS and end user data presentation and querying via ArcServer. Forte then developed scripts using Safe Software's Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) to perform the translation to the new GIS data model.

In addition, key property attribute data were migrated from the District's existing proprietary environment to MS SQLServer so that these data may be queried in conjuction with the GIS parcel data via a web enabled ArcServer mapping interface.

Yellowknife GIS / Document Management Tool Released

Forte has completed work on a new application tool set for the City of Yellowknife that integrates ESRI's ArcIMS environment with the City's Hummingbird Document Management System.

Built as an extension to the City's successful cityExplorer Internet mapping application, this newly implemented tool suite provides two way communication between the browser-based map and the document management environment, as well as easy to use functionality to create and maintain linkages between GIS features and Hummingbird managed documents.

Development of Yellowknife GIS/DM Tool Begins

Forte has begun work on a new application tool set for the City of Yellowknife that will integrate ESRI's ArcIMS environment with their Hummingbird Document Management System.

The new application will extend and build on the success of the existing cityExplorer Internet mapping application which is used daily by Yellowknife staff and the public to access a broad range of the City's business data via the GIS.
